Bada i Buda: (Bathing in Buda) Filmed in 1936, this Swedish clip shows some of Budapest's thermal baths and interesting aerial and ground views of some of the main city locations.
Beautiful Budapest: A FitzPatrick Traveltalk film. This rare colour film was produced in 1938 and shows many familiar scenes in Technicolor. Many interesting facts about Budapest and Hungary in the English language commentary.
Sunday in Budapest: A short British Pathe film, with a very British commentary produced in 1935.
Favourite line: "Beer and dancing seem quite a satisfactory combination here."

Retro Movie: Produced by the Budapest Metro company a short film on Budapest public transport at the beginning of the 20th. Century. Check out the horse-drawn omnibus!
Rural Hungary: A James A. FitzPatricks "Traveltalk" film in Technicolor from 1939.
An interesting glimpse into life in rural Hungary and the traditional costumes, customs and community spirit of the people.

Vienna and Budapest: This silent home movie from the 1930s features both Vienna and Budapest.
Some interesting views of Buda's Royal Castle area, Fisherman's Bastion and parts of Pest.

Budapest in the 60s and in the 70s: A short look at life in Budapest during the 1960s/1970s.
Interesting to see the red star on top of the tram at position 0:20 and some of the statues which dominated many cities of the former Soviet Bloc.
Csudapest Tanc: Clip from the early 1960s showing happy Hungarians singing and waving from the top of a bus and others dancing in the middle of a busy road while doing their very best to get run over.
We strongly advise our guests against trying this on main roads - even if you are on a pedestrian crossing.

Old Budapest: Not a movie clip, but a very nice slide show of postcards and old (and some not so old) photos of Budapest.
Budapest 1945 - 2008: This beautifully produced slide show shows photos of Budapest locations in 1945, following the siege of Budapest, and then transforms into photos of the same location, photographed in 2008 from the precisely the same spot. Amazing.
Budapest Children's Railway: In this clip from 1954, a group of Young Pioneers is out for a ride on the Children's Railway. This is still in operation today and the children running it look surprisingly similar to these, but thankfully don't sing as much.

The Royal Palace Then and Now: An interesting slide show featuring the Hungarian Royal Palace in Budapest and showing how it looked in 1904 and how it looks at present.

The Story of the Hungarian Royal Palace: Clip showing the Royal Palace during the 20th. Century, including some archive footage from 1916 showing the king wearing the royal crown and the destruction caused at the end of WWII, and the renovation following the end of the war.
Hungarian Wedding Dress: An interesting collection of images of traditional Hungarian wedding attire worn by some very unenthusiastic looking newlyweds.
Budapest in the 1930's: Another interesting clip of Budapest in earlier days. Take a look back in time to see how little Budapest has changed in the past 80 years.

Budapest Public Transport: An interesting clip from 1970 showing different types of public transport and views of the city. Good to see the Mariott Hotel and the Riverview Apartment building in the final scene.
.
Budapest Retro:80 minute long documentary film, which looks back to Budapest in the 60's/70's.
Very nice to see the city in the pre-graffiti days.
